Champion of the Weird would fit best in a mono‑black or Rakdos (black‑red) Goblin deck that can reliably produce extra Goblins to exile, ideally ones with strong enters‑ or leaves‑the‑battlefield value so the temporary exile isn’t too painful and can even be leveraged when the Champion dies; it plays more like a grindy, sacrifice‑ or attrition‑focused Goblin build than a fast aggro swarm, since paying life and activating only at sorcery speed makes it slow for pure aggression. That said, most competitive Goblin decks (especially in formats like Modern, Pioneer, or Commander) would likely prefer more efficient and synergistic options such as Sling-Gang Lieutenant, Goblin Rabblemaster, Rundvelt Hordemaster, or even Munitions Expert, which generate immediate board impact or direct damage without requiring you to exile another Goblin as an additional cost; the life payment plus setup requirement makes Champion of the Weird comparatively clunky unless “blight” is a uniquely powerful mechani
